Congratulations to Alba On A Successfull Zero Accidents Week!!!

The APSB wants to congratulate ALBA the conclusion of Health, Safety, & Enviornment (HSE) Week. Here is the story.

Alba just concluded the first safety week.  Present at the event were high officials from leading public and private sector establishments and senior officals from Alba including members of the Alba Labour Union.

The HSE Zero Accidents Week had been organized with the specific objective of enhancing awareness of health, safety and environment related issues amongst employees and contract staff; encourage employees to make to make safety a priority; boost greater intention between employees and management in upholding safety goal; and finally, utilize the HSE for community outreach programs.

The event also provided an opportunity to highlight the three Zero Accidents Principle, namely, ownership of safety is everyone's responsibility; working safely is a condition of employment; and all work related injuries and illnesses are preventable.

One of the highlights of the opening ceremony was a demonstration by Alba Riders Team who toured various townships in Bahrain with safety messages before coming to Alba and touring the plant on their bikes.

Alba's Chief Executive Tim Murray said: "Safety is an intrinsic part of Alba's work culture, a priority focus in every area of our operations and a key component of our charter that states - if you don't work safely you don't work here. For Alba, the goal is not merely reducing accidents or minimizing risky behavior but about developing a zero accident work environment. We believe this is good for our employees, good for the industry and good for business as well. The HSE Zero Accident Week will provide opportunities to discuss how this can be achieved, learn about challenges and how to address them, and most importantly consider ways of translating these ideas into concrete action plans."

The event took place at the Alba plant and included lectures, presentations, safety demonstrations, competitions  film sessions, and community outreach.

The importance of safety week's at plants can not be understated. Alba has undertaken a valued program to show once again that the goal is zero accidents.

If your plant is having a safety week, please forward the information to the APSB. We'd love to post information about it.

That is a great thing for both the employees and the company. It shows that the company values safety and that the workers are following procedures as to avoid accidents at the workplace. This example should be applauded and followed by other companies dealing with work with various work hazards.
