Hauling bales....

The over the road transportation of raw materials to our plants occurs on a daily basis around the globe. Sometimes incidents occur before the trucks arrive. Though these incidents are rare in occurrence some in our industry have taken it upon themselves to educate truckers about the importance of safe driving. Here is a recent incident emphasizing the need for safe driving.

18-wheeler truck carrying 26 tons of aluminum bales overturned on Tuppers Creek Road off I-77 in Sissonville, West Virginia, in the USA just before 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015.

According to Metro 911 dispatchers the truck was not carrying any hazardous material. There were no reported injuries as result of the crash.

Dispatchers say portion of Tuppers Creek Road near Copper Head Point is shut down so that emergency personnel can clean up the accident scene

The Aluminium Plant Safety Blog is glad that no one was injured in this incident. The APSB recommends printing this post and displaying where truckers can view it. We are not sure if they truck flipped due to driver error or a shifting load. We have seen numerous incidents where a shifting load and sloped roadway resulted in a truck flipping over on it's side. Luckily neither the trucker or any other motorists were injured in this incident.
