"fire..due to some molten aluminum flowing underground."

The accidental release of molten metal is a nightmare in every aluminium workplace. Here is an incident from last year that we had yet to post highlighting this hazard.

The fire at the aluminum manufacturing plant was extinguished in 3 hours... No casualties

At around 3:08 am one early morning in the June 2024, a fire broke out at an aluminum manufacturing plant, and was extinguished in about 3 hours after the ignition.

After receiving the report, the local Fire Department dispatched 66 firefighting personnel and 28 pieces of equipment to extinguish the fire at 6:11 a.m. on the same day, 3 hours and 3 minutes after the ignition.

The fire destroyed some of the wiring in the underground pit and scorched the 150 sq meter basement ceiling.

We are thankful that no one was injured in this incident. The uncontrolled release of molten metal from its holding spot is a nightmare. With the same viscosity of water, the molten metal fluid will flow to the lowest spot. It can flow between two steel floor plates. Even though no one was injured the molten metal caused some damage and most definitely stopped production.
