The storage
of combustible materials such as cardboard, wooden pallets, etc. is an often
overlooked hazard. Workplaces fail to consider what would happen if their wooden
pallets or cardboard ignites. Here is a recent incident highlighting this
hazard.
The fire that broke out in
the garden of an aluminum factory in (location name omitted) district of (location
name omitted) has been extinguished.
A fire broke out on the
wooden pallets in the garden of the factory on the (location name omitted) road
in (location name omitted) District for a reason that has not yet been
determined.
Noticing the flames, the
factory officials reported the situation to the fire brigade and asked for
help.
The fire brigade teams,
who came to the scene upon notice, intervened in a short time and brought the
fire under control.
In the fire, 4 workers
affected by the smoke were treated as outpatients by medical teams.
We hope the
reader will take this incident and make their workplace safer. We are not
advocating for plants to have no stock of cardboard or pallets. We would
suggest reviewing where the stock is located and what could happen if it
ignited.
