Bag house Fire....

Dust collectors are a common sight at aluminium plants. Here is a story of a fire that could have easily gone out of control.

During the week of March 17, 2013 fire fighters quickly put out a blaze in the dust bin of a metal finishing plant located in the Midwest Unites States.

The fire started around 2:30 PM and was out within 30 minutes, said local fire chief.

The dust bin is attached to the main building.

This video is used to illustrate why bag houses should be located outside of a building. Preferably they should be located 10-15 feet away from a building and should have a barrier around them to keep personnel and movable equipment away.

Also remember, entering a bag house requires confined space training. There have been numerous incidents of injuries and fatalities of workers entering a bag house.
