Alba holds Safety Walk for all employees

The Aluminium Plant Safety Blog loves to post positive stories about our industry. Aluminium Bahrain (i.e., ALBA) is a shining example of a company that all other companies should strive to emulate. Congratulations to Alba on always being proactive. Here is the story:

Aluminium Baharain B.S.C. (Alba) strengthened its focus on occupational safety with a walking event for all employees "Walk towards Zero Accidents" - held within the plant premises on December 12, 2013.

Organised by Alba Health Care Centre in cooperation with the HSE Department, the aim of this event was to increase overall safety awareness as well as promote a healthy lifestyle amoungst all employees across all departments.

Commenting on the "Walk towards Zero Accidents" event, Alba's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Etham Al Eid says:

"At Alba, we aim to achieve a zero accident work environment through various safety-related events and activities. Through events such as "Walk towards Zero Accidents" we are able to ensure the participation of Alba employees as well as increase their understanding and awareness of working safely in Alba."

"Alba maintains safety awareness campaigns throughout the year, and this is accomplished through the weekly Monday  safety hours, five-minute safety talk before each shift, the annual HSE Week for all the departments, and the individual Department-led HSE Week, which specifically focus on safety issues related to the departments."

Congratulations to Alba for promoting to the industry what they are doing in terms of safety. Promoting safety through news releases is one method to show those inside our industry as well as those outside our industry what aluminium companies are doing. All too common, the only information that is heard outside our industry involves injuries or fatalities when they become news stories. The APSB hopes to change that by posting stories about our companies promoting safety.
