"worker died after a cylinder exploded...."

The importance of housekeeping cannot be understated. Many incidents occur when items are not properly placed and secured. One common incident is the improper storage of portable cylinder tanks. Here is a recent incident emphasizing the need for proper cylinder storage.

A 53-year-old worker died after a cylinder exploded at a factory in India one afternoon in November 2018.

As pieces of the argon gas cylinder penetrated the worker’s body, his colleagues rushed him to a hospital. But he died on the way.

The local police post in-charge assistant sub-inspector said, “(The worker) was working alone in assembling department of a (forging company) when the blast took place. On hearing it, other workers rushed to the spot, but the deceased worker could not be saved.”

“Further action will be taken after his son returns from Delhi,” the assistant sub-inspector added.

We offer our sincere condolences and prayers to the worker’s family, friends, and coworkers.

We have in the past posted incidents about portable cylinders that have fallen over and exploded. Please, please when you see a cylinder that is not properly secured act immediately. The Aluminium Times had an article about the importance of good housekeeping. It can be downloaded here.
