Aleris plant reaches safety milestone...

Stories about safety accomplishments in our plants should be publicized throughout our industry. Companies, plants, and workers that are taking an active role in working safer should be commended. Here is a such a story.

On July 7 the Aleris Friendly, West Virginia facility in United States was recognized by their company's leadership for their safety record.

The Tyler County plant, which employs nearly 65 people, mostly from the surrounding Friendly area, reached a milestone of going 455 days without a recordable injury, according to a press release. Since achieving this milestone, the team has demonstrated continued safety excellence, company officials said.

The friendly facility has been in operation since 1998.

The plant is a recycling facility, which includes melting and milling operations for secondary aluminium materials.

Plant manager said, "It is with great pleasure to be part of such an engaged workforce. The team achieved this exceptional safety performance while also setting new production records on both our furnace and mill. I am confident that our team will remain focused on improvements in safety as well as productivity."

The APSB would like to congratulate all the employees at the Aleris Friendly plant as well as the Aleris corporate support staff for this recent accomplishment.
