The lack of machine guarding is a contributing factor in many arm and leg injuries when using machinery. Here is an incident from 2025 highlighting the hazard of machinery entrapment.

A worker suffered serious injuries after getting his arm stuck in a machine, this Tuesday afternoon, in a factory in (town name omitted), in the municipality of (name omitted).

The accident happened at the aluminum company, in circumstances yet to be determined, and the alert was given a few minutes before 17:00.

For rescue, the (local) Firefighters and the (local) Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle were mobilized.

The (police) registered the occurrence.

We pray that the injured worker’s arm was saved. We also pray that the injured worker recovers fully from their injuries.

This incident could have been minimized and/or prevented with proper machinery guarding. This company is an extruder and we assume that the worker got injured in a press.
