Here is a recent story of machine fire at a wire and cable recycler in the United States.
A fire was reported at 5:37 AM at the Prime Materials Recovery in New York a few weeks ago. "It was going pretty good when we got there" said Canastota Fire Chief. One of the machines the companies uses to process metals overheated, he said. Fire spread through pipes leading from the machine and into the building's 40 foot-high ceiling and insulation, the chief said. There were no reported injuries.
Fire fighters needed to use lifts to reach the fire, he said. It took 20 to 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, Canastota Fire Chief said. Firefighters from departments in Canstota, Wampsville, Lincoln, Oneida, Chittenango, North Chittenango, and Bridgeport reported to the fire scene.
Firefighters from Sylvan Beach and Mubbsville were placed on standby. The last fire truck left the scene at about 10 a.m., Madison County 911 dispatchers said.
Workers were able to return to work in the building, fire chief said.
