One killed, 10 hurt in gas cylinder blast....

LPG gas cylinders are a common sight in our facilities. The Aluminium Plant Safety has a story reinforcing the proper storage and use of LPG cylinders in our industry. Here is the story:

A 22 year old worker was killed and 10 people were injured during the week July 21, 2013 when a gas cylinder exploded in an aluminium casting factory in India.

The incident took place around 10 am. The laborers were rushed to a private hospital, where one was declared dead, two critical and others out of danger.

The deceased body was mutilated in the blast, police said. His body has been sent to Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The incident took place when a spark from a casting unit came in contact with a gas cylinder. The management and the workers were asked to immediately move out and the fire brigade rushed to the spot.

"A police team is investigating whether LPG is allowed to be used in factories," assistant commissioner of police.
