Moveable equipment is
common throughout our plants. Moveable equipment comes in many shapes and
forms. The forklift truck is the most common vehicle used in our plants. The
Aluminium Plant Safety Blog has a recent incident reinforcing the need for
continued emphasis on moveable equipment safety.
Emergency personnel in say a worker at a
recycling plant has died in an industrial accident according to officials.
The
incident happened around in the afternoon one day during the week of September
28, 2014 in the Southeast United States.
Police
and emergency crews wrapped up an investigation at the recycling facility.
Investigators
said something caused a forklift to turn on its side and the operator was
crushed.
They
couldn't say if the operator was hauling or moving something or what he was
doing.
Firefighters
were not able to say who the operator is or how long they have worked here.
The
local Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Division launched an
investigation into the accident to see if there were any safety or health
standards that were violated.
That
investigation could take up to four months.
The
manager of the company said the business is closing for the day but would not
comment any further about what happened here this afternoon.
The Aluminium Plant Safety Blog offers our
sincere prays to the deceased workers family, coworkers, and friends. The APSB
will post later today safety information regarding moveable equipment.
