"died ...of multiple blunt force trauma after falling about 50 feet...."

Working from heights occurs on a regular basis in many of our plants. OSHA requires that fall protection be provided at elevations of four feet in general industry workplaces, and six feet in the construction industry. In addition, OSHA requires that fall protection be provided when working over dangerous equipment and machinery, regardless of the fall distance.

An autopsy showed that a contractor died because of multiple blunt force trauma after falling about 50 feet from a roof, the local County coroner’s office one day during the week of April 10, 2016.

The worker lost his footing and fell through the area of the roof that was being replaced, the Coroner said.

The deceased worker was working on the roof at a local aluminium company in the Northeast United States for a construction company. A call to the construction company on Saturday was not returned.
