On occasion the Aluminium Plant Safety Blog will be made aware of an incident that has little to no information. We are conflicted on whether or not we should post this incident because the news media article lists little information. We decided to post anyway and will update this story when more information comes available.

A worker at an aluminium casting business died one day during the week of January 24, 2016 after a suspected workplace accident.

The local police chief said in a news release that officers were called at 2:27 p.m. to the business for a workplace incident.

A worker was pronounced dead on the scene, the local police chief said.

“Preliminary indications are that this may be an industrial accident,” the release states.

The incident is under investigation by the local police, and the local County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The foundry produces medium- to small-volume aluminum castings in sand and permanent molds.

The Aluminium Plant Safety Blog offers our sincere condolences to the deceased worker’s family, friends and coworkers. It appears that this worker worked with family members at this foundry. We wonder if that is why there is no information in the news media article. Regardless, we acknowledge the pain and suffering the family is experiencing. We hope in the near future that information on what happened, what hazard, the circumstances regarding the incident will be released. Because it our sincere hope that whatever occurred in this incident never be reproduced at another plant.
