"he was showing safety managers malfunction of the machinery that caused his death"

This is a story that we hope no one will forget.

The 44-year-old worker who died in a manufacturing company one day during the week of February 9, 2020 died just as he was showing the company's safety managers the malfunction of the machinery that caused his death. The widow's patrons support him.

The incident, according to what was reported, occurred while the worker was using a bender that he said needed additional security measures and the whole thing was filmed by a manager who wanted to document the problems. The man was hit in the chest by a pin that broke and the aluminum bar he was bending. According to the press release released in August 2020, the tragedy would have occurred due to problems with the machinery, regardless of the fact that the worker was working on it from the front (and not from the side) after setting a program that was not entirely correct.

The video, they explain, was acquired by the local prosecutor. The Public Ministry confirms that investigations are still underway to clarify any third party liability or negligence. The hypothesis of a crime that could occur is that of manslaughter.

For its part, the company claims to cooperate fully with the authorities, but does not want to comment on what has been made public by the family's lawyers by virtue of the ongoing investigation.

We offer our sincere condolences to the worker’s family, friends, and coworkers. This tragedy is beyond imagination. The worker knew something was wrong with the machinery and decided to demonstrate what was wrong. The safety manager(s) filmed the workers demonstration. Unbeknownst to them they filmed the workers death. We honestly believe that no one at that time thought the hazard was life threatening.

We hope in the future that this story will be remembered by the reader and will not allow workers to operate machinery that they feel is unsafe. When questioning machinery, always use the machinery's operating manual. Many incidents involving machinery could be prevented if the operating manual was followed.
