"Long and complex intervention by the fire brigade to free him...."

Some news media articles lack a lot of information. Regardless, we post these incidents because what information is provided is enough to allow one to look at their workplace and ask the simple question. “Can this incident happen here?” Here is a recent incident:

The young man, resident in (local town), suffered a trauma to the pelvis. Long and complex intervention by the fire brigade to free him from the metal bars

The young worker who, on one evening during the week of July 4th, 2021, was seriously injured in an aluminium extrusion plant.

Overwhelmed by some aluminum profiles, the 23-year-old worker, reported an important trauma to the pelvis, as well as other minor traumas.

The accident, which in consideration of the dynamics could have had far more tragic consequences, rekindled attention to the problem of accidents at work, so much so that the trade unions, have announced that for the day today, at 17, they will hold a garrison outside the company. They also declared a strike for the last two hours of each shift at the aluminium extrusion company.

The serious injury in the company occurred during the night shift and the emergency call, made by the young man's colleagues, arrived at the operations room of 112, around 9.45pm.

We pray that the injured worker is recovering from his injuries. We will update this post if we find out any further information. We have reported on similar incidents and the normally are always fatalities.

It appears the workers had a stack of profiles fall upon him. To what extent we are unsure but it seems to have been a difficult rescue. We have toured a multitude of extrusion plants. We have observed a variety or methods of storing material after extrusion prior to another operation. We wonder if it was during the storage process before a procedure or immediately after a procedure that this worker was injured. We hope extrusion companies will ask themselves can an incident where a stack of profiles falls onto a worker happen at our workplace?

Please comment.
