On one of our visits to a plant we surprised that everyone who entered the premises had to be tested for alcohol. Though we passed. We could not help but pause and think about the issue of alcoholism that the local and country had a problem. In all honesty many countries do too. But, this was the first time after visiting countless number of plants that we had to use a breathalyzer to enter. Here is a recent story emphasizing the hazard of alcoholism.
Police responded to a call from (company name omitted) Aluminum alleging an employee had alcohol inside a water bottle and was leaving for the day. Officers searched the area but made no contact.
We pray that the worker who was observed drinking alcohol on the job gets the medical and mental help they need. For many plants workers are not allowed water bottles within the work premises for safety reasons. The concern is the container would be disposed of internally and could end up in a furnace.
