"two workers were killed and one seriously injured...."

The construction of new and existing facilities is occurring throughout our industry. Occasionally, construction workers are injured or killed on the building site. Here is a recent incident highlighting the hazard of construction in our industry.

In February 2024, at least two workers were killed and one seriously injured when heavy iron rods fell on the construction site for an aluminium company (location omitted). The deceased were identified as two mean one aged 44 and the other aged 34 years old. The workers were hired on contract.

We pray for the deceased workers’ family, friends, and coworkers. We pray that the deceased workers’ families were compensated for their loss.

We have toured many construction sites around the globe. The responsibility of safety on the site differs around the globe. In some countries safety at the site is the responsibility of the construction company. While in some other countries safety is the responsibility of the aluminium company.

Many times, there is a conflict on who is responsible when a fatality occurs. Regardless of who is legally responsible. The aluminum company is paying for the work. They should include in their contract with the construction company(s) that safety is paramount.
