The use of chemicals in our workplace is commonplace. The importance of wearing the proper personal protective equipment is sometimes overlooked. Here is a recent incident highlighting the importance of wearing the proper personal protective equipment when working with or near chemicals.
The young worker hit by a
"puff" of sulfuric acid while he was working within the (anodizing)
company, specialized in anodizing for the treatment of aluminum, suffered burns
all over his body. It all happened on Tuesday around 5.15 pm, with an alarm
launched in code red: a 36-year-old worker was injured who would have been
overwhelmed by an acid leak from a tank. The causes of the accident at work,
yet another in the ( area, are currently being examined by the technicians of
the (governmental safety organizations) in the workplace - with the support of
the (local police department).

Colleagues immediately
raised the alarm on (telephoned ems). The operations center sent the ambulance
and an ambulance from (from nearby town) to the scene, while the helicopter was
taken off from (nearby city): the worker would have suffered burns to the face,
arms and torso, fortunately not too extensive and not even deep. However, his
condition remains serious, and he was hospitalized at the Civil Hospital. The local
Fire Brigade also intervened in the company.
We pray that the injured worker recovers fully from their injuries. We hope the workplace will investigate this incident and institute either revised training and/or engineering controls to ensure that this incident never occurs again.
