Extrication for worker trapped at die cast facility....(Update)

A man was injured in a work accident at an aluminium die casting company in the Midwest United States during the week of November 18, 2012. The worker was injured when his right foot got caught in a press, according to the local police department.

The local fire department was called about 3:30 AM.

The call was upgraded to an extrication because the man was reportedly stuck in the machine, according to the fire department, but while extrication units were on the way to the die casting facility, the man was freed by other employees.

When ambulances arrived, the man was waiting at the door. The worker was taken to a local hospital with significant trauma to his right foot.

Another news article just located states:

Worker became caught in a die cast machine. According to officials, the worker was standing on the machine when his foot slipped into the machine.

It is common that information from news media sources maybe inaccurate. Was the worker caught in a press or a die cast machine? The information available is incomplete. Nevertheless, a worker was injured in this instance. The APSB hopes that awareness of this accident may result in the revaluation of equipment, processes, etc.
