This past Tuesday an aluminium extrusion manufacturer in the United States had an accident that left one person dead and another injured after a large metal rack they were moving fell off its track and pinned both men under aluminium extrusions. Both men were working near an oven when the accident happened. Emergency responders arrived to see a rescue effort already underway to free the men.
One worker was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. The local coroner has since ruled the cause of death as "mechanical asphyxiation".
While a second worker was severely injured in the accident too and is being treated for second and third degree burns at a local hospital.
"His face, all the way down to his waist, arms, and back are second-degree burns and his legs got the worst, which are third degree burns," said the injured worker's uncle.

The family of the injured worker held a benefit spaghetti dinner at a local church.
The worker was badly burned over most of his body, during an accident last month at an aluminium extrusion plant. His co-worker died in the accident.
The injured worker had skin-gradt surgery at the local children's hospital, but still has a long recovery ahead of him.
"The worker's friends and family really do care deeply for him, and we are very very happy with the community and he's in fair condition, getting better, and that's all we want," said the worker's stepsister.
The worker's step-father, said that the injured has been making some progress recovering. "He's starting to move around a little bit, but he's still got to go back for therapy, and you know, check-ups."
Several local businesses donated food, baskets and gift cards for the fundraiser. All the proceeds will help the injured worker and his family with medical expenses.

I totally agree on your comments. Usually I would think that something could never happen to me... here... now!... But a big tragedy could hit even a small and apparently safe business. Small organizations need to raise the awareness of hazards of their workers. Excellent service.

The worst thing that happened during my career was the lost of a colleague due to an accident at work. My colleague, who normally always followed all the safety rules and regulations, made an innocent mistake that caused him his life. I believe it is of great importance to inform people about any accident in our line of work. It can help us to stay alert and to train our people to work more safely. Thanks APSB!
