"“unconscious male at his (extrusion) press...."

The hazards associated with aluminium extrusion presses is well known in our industry. Yet, there are still incidents involving injuries and fatalities every year. Here is a recent incident highlight the hazards of aluminium extrusion presses.

(local) Police, the (local) County Coroner’s Office, and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) are investigating a death at (aluminium extrusions company) in (town name omitted).

Police captain says police first learned about the death on Monday.

However, the incident took place on Friday, according to reports.

An ambulance was sent to the facility around 5:44 p.m. Friday for an “unconscious male at his press.”

Police Captain says a detective and a coroner’s office investigator will be heading to the facility as part of the investigation into the death, which is likely connected to an industrial accident.

The news media has reached out to (aluminium extrusion) for comment, but at the time of this posting, has yet to hear back.

We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased worker’s family, friends, and coworkers. Obviously, the news article lacks enough information. Regardless, we feel this incident needed to be posted.

The reader can go back to the workplace and if they have an extrusion press use this tragedy to make their workplace safer. How? Tell your extrusion press operator about this post. Then ask, “How could you be killed by the extrusion press?” Be ready for some useful information. But beware if your operator tells you “No way I can be killed”. Be very worried because the worker is telling you what they think you want to hear and not the truth.

We will update this post when further information is put forth.
