"gunman opened fire on a co-worker..."

Sadly our plants are not immune to workplace violence. From terrorist attacks, hostage taking, shootings, physical violence have befallen some of our plants. The Aluminium Plant Safety Blog has a recent story that could have had horrific results.

An employee of an aluminum foundry in the USA was wounded when a gunman opened fire on a co-worker at the end one day during the week of a Monday, June 18, 2017, police said.

Local police said they’re looking for the person who fired the shots. They said the shooter was not employed by the company but was lying in wait for his intended target and began shooting as employees were in the parking lot around 11:35 p.m.
The intended target was not struck by the gunfire, but another employee was in his car when a bullet went through a side window and struck him on the right side of his head.

He was taken to 30 kilometers for treatment. Police said his wound is not life-threatening. Police said a person of interest is wanted for questioning, but they did not identify that person.

We pray that the injured worker recovers fully from their injuries. We hope that the aluminium foundry will work with local police in protecting their employees when leaving work.
