There are few hazards located at every type of aluminium plant. From aluminium smelters, to aluminium extrusion plants, to aluminium foundries, to remelt plants. This incident involves a hazard that knows no bounds. It pains us greatly when we post any incident. But, this hazard is personal to us.
The fire brigade of inhad to release a worker after a work accident around 10.30 am on Tuesday. This happened at a manufacturing company in a business park in Western Europe. There, the worker became trapped after he got a load of aluminum plates when loading or unloading a truck. He was buried under the aluminum plates and was seriously injured.
The public prosecutor's office sent the labor inspectorate on site to investigate the cause of the accident.
Here is another news media article.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. When loading or unloading aluminum cover plates, the load started to slide. A worker of the company, in his fifties, was buried under two packs of heavy aluminum plates and was seriously injured. Emergency services rushed to the spot. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition. The site is currently confiscated and the prosecutor's office sent the labor inspectorate to the site to investigate the accident. The man is said to be an employee of the company.
We pray that this injured worker recovers from their injuries. We have reported on this incident at every type of aluminium plant. Sadly, the worker/driver normally dies. Annually, we report on numerous fatalities involving improper load securement during transportation or during the loading and unloading. It is personal to us, because improper load securement of a rolling slab was the reason for a 5 year old girl dying when the slab came off the trailer during an accident.
If it matters her name was Emma. It is because of her death that we were able to finally see this hazard for what it is. Before we were blind to it. Even though we reported on countless fatalities. It was the death of a little girl that made us realize that something needs to be done.
