The cutting and sawing of items in our
workplaces is done at most of our workplaces in some way on a daily basis. Here
is a recent incident highlighting the hazard when workers are involved in this task
or procedure.
Another accident at work. This
time it happened in (location omitted), a hamlet in the
province of (name omitted). A
worker partially cut off three fingers of
his left hand while working in a company cutting
pieces of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to be recycled. The accident at work
happened in a company specializing in the production of aluminum doors.
According to early reconstructions, the
40-year-old was working with a shearing machine when he cut off three fingers
on his right hand. He also injured his head with another work tool. His
condition is serious but
he would not be in danger of life. The dynamics of the accident are being
examined by the carabinieri. The emergency-urgency vehicles of the (name
omitted) Local Health Authority arrived on the spot.
We offer our sincere prayers to the injured
worker. We hope that the worker is provided with the physical and occupational
therapy to recover as much as anyone can with multiple digit amputations.
