"worker dies electrocuted...."

Electrocution risks are commonplace in everyone of our workplaces. Sadly, here is a recent incident that may have been a recurrence.

The accident occurred in the aluminium extrusion plant in (location name omitted). Last year, in the same company, a colleague was injured in a similar way

In (location omitted), a worker died of an accident at work at the (company name omitted) Extrusion company. According to what emerges, the 52-year-old man was electrocuted by the electric discharge of a machine as soon as he started his shift. Immediately afterwards, a fire broke out in the metalworking company specializing in metal surfaces. On the spot the immediate intervention of (local fire department, police, and ems).

As the (local news media) writes, as early as (two years ago) another worker had been electrocuted by the electrical system of the same company but managed to save himself thanks to the timely intervention of the doctors of the (local) hospital. The general secretary of (trade union), intervened on the matter by expressing condolences and reiterating the urgency of new protocols on health and safety at work: "We are witnessing a daily trickle of fatal accidents at work: enough is enough! The issue of "zero deaths at work" must become central to public opinion. An extraordinary commitment is needed for a situation that – after a slow improvement – is again dramatically getting out of hand". The aluminium extrusion company will be closed for 3 days while tomorrow morning. An assembly of all workers will meet in front of the company gates. Meanwhile, the general secretary of the (local union), announced: "The (local union) will be a civil party, in order to be aware of the dynamics of the death of this worker and the reconstructions that will be made the police, above all to understand how things went and to protect those who remain, those who will continue to work".

We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased worker’s family, friends, and coworkers. We are saddened to hear that a similar incident occurred last year with a worker being severely injured. We pray that the pertinent government agencies and aluminium extrusion company find the root cause and prevent this tragedy from recurring.
