"Seven ...workers who (tried) to extinguish the fire inhaled smoke"

Workers must be instructed to immediately notify the fire department when a fire occurs at the workplace. There must be no delay. They must call and then and only then use their training to try to extinguish the fire. Here is an incident of the 4th quarter of 2025 that shows what can happen when workers delay in notifying the fire department of a workplace fire.

During the night, the machine for processing aluminum had caught fire. This is operated by a robot, so it is located in a closed area.

High Damage

The so-called robot cell is not entered by the workers during working hours. Despite attempts to extinguish the fire by those present, the fire spread to the entire facility, and only the fire brigade was able to smother the full fire. According to the police's initial findings, the fire was probably caused by a technical defect.

Seven of the production workers who wanted to extinguish the fire inhaled smoke gases and were cared for by the rescue service. The fire has caused property damage of several hundred thousand euros to the hall.

We pray that all of the injured workers recovered fully from their inhalation injuries. We would tell those workers that their injuries could have been minimized and/or prevented if they immediately called the fire department.

Please comment.
