For many workplaces,
worker training and engineering controls minimize the possibility of machinery
entrapment. Yet still machinery entrapment incidents still occur. Here is a
recent incident that highlights this hazard that injures and kills numerous
workers every year.
The work accident was
recorded around 1:00 p.m. within the (company name omitted) facilities located
on the (road, and town name omitted).
According to preliminary
information provided by authorities and company personnel, the worker was
operating a machine in the molding area when, for reasons that are still being
investigated, he was trapped between the mechanisms of the industrial
equipment.
The machine suddenly
grasped him, crushing his chest, which resulted in extremely serious injuries.
Co-workers immediately
requested help when they realized what had happened. The injured worker received
initial care at the site and was later transferred in a private ambulance
to a nearby hospital.
Despite the efforts of the
medical staff, the worker died hours later due to the severity of the internal
injuries.
We offer our
sincere condolences to the deceased worker’s family, friends, and coworkers. We
will update this post when further information comes forward.
