"buried under aluminum blocks during unloading work...."

The loading and unloading of materials from ships is a common occurrence to our plants that are located next to a body of water. This task has unique safety challenges that sadly can result in an incident. Here is a recent incident highlighting

A man died one morning during the 3rd quarter of 2025 in an industrial accident in a hold of a ship at (name omitted) Terminal in (location name omitted). The victim was buried under aluminum blocks during unloading work, says a spokeswoman for the (governemental safety organization).

The governmental safety organization spokesperson says that the man was working together with colleagues. "The emergency services were quickly on the scene, but unfortunately could not do anything for the victim." The port authority hopes to know more soon about exactly how the accident could have happened. 'Our thoughts are with the relatives and the colleagues involved. We do everything in our power to support them.'

A special team of the fire brigade had to turn out to be able to hoist the victim out of the hold.

The governmental safety organization is still investigating the accident.

We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased worker’s families, family and friends. The news media article does not provide many details on this fatal incident. We will reach out to the government safety organization for a copy of the final report. If we are successful, we will update this post.
