Molten metal will flow to the lowest point when it is spilled or escapes it’s intended holding spot. Here is a recent incident highlighting the hazard of molten metal spills.
The
incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in one of the strainer machines.
Around 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, an industrial incident was recorded at (company name omitted), located in the Industrial Park. The event consisted of an aluminum spill occurring specifically in the strainer of a mold.
In the face of the emergency, the factory's own operators began safety maneuvers, cutting off supplies and beginning natural ventilation tasks to dislodge the smoke accumulated in the sector.
When the firefighters arrived, they proceeded to verify the safety conditions in the area, since initially a high temperature was detected in the oven sector and on the conveyor belt.
As for the health of the personnel, (health) professionals provided medical attention on the spot to two workers. As reported, it was not necessary to carry out medical transfers, since the state of the same was not more complex.
We are thankful that the workers and fire responders were not hurt in this incident. It appears the molten metal spill contacted a combustible.
