"the fire that broke out...caused panic..."

Workers smoking cigarettes in the production area vary depending on the region. Here is a recent incident highlighting the hazard of allowing workers to smoke in a production area.

The fire that broke out at (aluminium company name omitted) in the (name omitted) Industrial Zone caused panic. The fire was brought under control and extinguished with the quick intervention of the fire brigade. While there were no casualties in the incident, only material damage occurred in the enterprise. It is emphasized that the fire may have started from a cigarette butt.

We are thankful that the fire was able to be extinguished and apparently no workers were injured. Our main concern with allowing smoking in production areas is the introduction of a flame source. Many workplaces have many combustibles including cardboard boxes, wood pallets, etc. That can ignite when contacted by a flame source.
