We have said countless times that there is nothing
wrong with older machinery. Yet, the workplace must acknowledge that older
machinery may not have the latest safety mechanisms. For example, machine guarding
on older machines is non existent. Here is a recent incident that we assume occurred
to a lack of proper machine guarding.
Accident at work, 35-year-old worker injured

km): the man, while carrying out his job, accidentally cut four fingers
A serious accident at work occurred last night in (town name omitted), in
the province of (name omitted), within a company specializing in the production
of aluminum packaging and containers.
A 35-year-old worker was injured in his hand while he was using a
machine.
Accident in the (name omitted) area, 35-year-old urgently transported
to hospital
The man, while carrying out his job, accidentally cut four fingers. (local
emergency management systems) was immediately alerted. The rescuers, who
promptly arrived on the scene, urgently transported the 35-year-old to the (50
km to a nearby hospital) for the necessary treatment and all the checks.
The police and labor inspectors intervened at the scene of the accident.
Investigations have been launched in order to reconstruct the exact dynamics of
the incident and verify compliance with safety regulations in the workplace.
