"died after a heavy load of aluminium materials fell on him ...."

The hazards associated with loading and unloading of trucks is hidden at many workplaces until an incident occurred. Here is a recent tragedy highlighting the hazards associated with loading vehicles.

A 22-year-old worker died after a heavy load of aluminium materials fell on him in the (name omitted) aluminium plant here one night in January 2025.

The deceased was employed with (a contractor that processes dross). The incident occurred around 11.30 pm when the worker was loading the consignment on a truck. He was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital where doctors declared him dead.

As the news of his death spread, family members and co-workers gathered at the hospital demanding adequate compensation.

We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased worker’s family, friends, and coworkers. We feel it would be fruitless to say anything in this time to the family other than we are praying for them.

Though the news article we stated lacked details of the incident. But another news media article stated the worker “was loading goods onto the truck” at the time of the incident. While another news media article stated that the worker was “crushed.” We do not know what occurred and asked our contacts at this plant to tell us. We will update this story when we get further information.

We do want to mention that the loading of dross by outside firms to process is a process that we never considered the hazards associated with the loading process. We know do. We pray that this tragedy will force companies to investigate how their outside contractors remove and load dross in their workplace. It is our sincere hope that by bringing awareness to this tragedy we can prevent a recurrence.
