The
maintenance and repair of furnaces is a hazardous job. Here is a recent
incident that could have been worse.
Two workers were injured because
of an incident at the (name omitted) aluminum plant, the press service of (company
name omitted) reports.
"On (one day in May
2026) at the (aluminium smelter), during the cleaning of the drying area of
furnace No3, there was a partial detachment of the material build-up and its
fall. At the time of the work, there were two employees of the sintering shop
in the zone. As a result of the incident, the mill driver received a fracture
of the right tibia. The second employee was diagnosed with a contusion of the
soft tissues of the right lower leg without fractures and disability," the
report says.
It is noted that both
employees were promptly provided with first aid, after which they were taken to
the regional hospital.
"According to the results of the examination, the sinterer was released home: no fractures were detected. The mill operator was hospitalized. Employees of the authorized body in the field of industrial safety visited the site of the (aluminium smelter). According to the results of the inspection, no signs of an accident at a hazardous production facility were revealed," the report said.
We pray that
the injured workers recover fully from their injuries. We hope this incident
will be used to make workplaces safer by asking the personnel maintaining a
furnace on how to prevent this from recurring.
