The hazards associated with die-casting machines are well known. Yet nevertheless incidents still occur. Here is a recent incident highlighting the hazard
The 24-year-old worker who was injured in a work accident yesterday (one day in) September 2026 in the (die casting company), (location omitted), is (in) serious (condition in a hospital).
Originally from (from another town), hired with a temporary contract, according to reconstructions, he was crushed in the abdomen by a molding machine. Rescued by (local ems), he was immediately transported to the (neaby) hospital in (60+ km away) where he is hospitalized in intensive care with a reserved prognosis. The police of and the officials of the (pertinent gov’t safety organization) are carrying out all the necessary investigations in the foundry specializing in aluminum alloy die casting.
After the accident, the unions have proclaimed a four-hour strike for today for all shifts. In addition to this form of protest, the unions ask for an urgent confrontation with the company for a check on the safety conditions of the plant, in order to verify any responsibility of the company and be sure that such an episode cannot be repeated.
We pray that the injured worker recovers fully from their injuries. We pray for the injured worker’s family, friends and coworkers as they care for the injured worker and his family while he is in the hospital.
Die casting mold machines open and close. During these procedures there should be machine guarding to prevent any part of a worker’s body from being inside the machine prior to closing. We assume that the worker was performing some type of maintenance on the die casting mold and either assumed or did not properly lockout tagout the machine. While inside the machine it closed entrapping the worker.
