"Five injured in fire in aluminum plant...."

Workers must be instructed to notify the local emergency management services first when a fire breaks out prior to trying to extinguish it. Here is a recent incident where workers were injured may have been minimized or prevented if they notified the fire department first.

Five employees of the local aluminum plants were injured in the fire of a machine in (location name omitted). The reason for the fire is said to have been a technical defect, the police said. Employees extinguished the fire, injuring five of them. Two were taken to hospital by ambulance. The building was evacuated and the machine is unusable, according to the police.

We pray that the injured workers recover fully from their injuries. Though we do not know which order the workers contacted the fire department and fought the fire. We have reported numerous incidents that workers with the best of intentions delayed notifying the local fire department. In every instance the delay resulted in the fire growing larger. Workers have been injured and killed because they delayed the arrival of the local fire department.
