One died, six hurt in furnace explosion

Recent incidents involving molten metal explosions should reinforce this deadly hazard in every workplace that processes molten metal.

Giant boiler exploded in factory in (location omitted): 7 workers were injured, 3 of them seriously!

In a work accident that occurred in the morning hours in a metal production factory in the (location omitted), the industrial giant boiler exploded for an undetermined reason. As a result of the violent explosion, a total of 3 workers were injured, 2 of them seriously.

The incident took place in the morning hours at the facility called (company name omitted), which operates in the (location omitted). The explosion in the giant boiler in the casting/production section of the factory, where aluminum, zinc and copper powders are produced, created great panic throughout the facility and in the surrounding enterprises.

Health teams mobilized, investigation initiated

After the explosion, many health, fire brigade and security teams were dispatched to the address upon the rising smoke and the notification. The 3 injured workers were taken to the surrounding hospitals by ambulances and treated after the first intervention of the 112 Emergency Health teams who arrived at the scene. It was learned that 2 of the injured were in critical condition.

A judicial and administrative investigation was initiated by gendarmerie teams and technical experts in the factory area, where extensive security measures were taken, in order to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

A day after the incident one worker died because of their injuries. The condition of remaining six workers who were injured is unknown. Except two of the six are in critical condition.

From the company video and literature, it appears the workplace only had induction furnaces. From the photos and videos inside the plant appears the induction furnaces are intact and the water-cooling jacket did not fail. That leads us to assume that moisture or a contaminant was charged into the furnace. We will ask our contacts in this country for further information.
