Driver fell asleep during 2800 km drive

Fatigue is present in every workplace. Including when the finished product leaves our workplaces. Here is a recent incident on fatigue of truck drivers.

A truck loaded with aluminium overturned near (town name omitted) police post on the (name omitted)highway. The truck driver was seriously injured in the accident and has been admitted to nearby hospital. The truck was on its way (2800 km journey).

The incident took place when the 26-year-old truck driver, was carrying aluminium from (2800 km journey). As soon as he overtook the local police checkpoint, he fell asleep, due to which the truck lost control and fell into a ditch about 10 feet deep.

After the accident, when Satyendra screamed, other truck drivers passing by saw him lying in the ditch. He immediately informed police and ambulance services. The police and ambulance team reached the spot and took the injured to the local hospital, where he has been admitted to the emergency. He has suffered serious injuries to his waist and head.

Local police outpost in-charge said that the police team reached the spot as soon as the truck overturned. The injured driver was sent to the local hospital through ambulance. He also said that security personnel have been deployed at the spot as the truck was filled with aluminium.

We pray that the injured driver recovers fully from their injuries. Fatigue while driving hit home to us as we have fallen asleep while driving 100 km on a highway. Thankfully, we hit a guardrail. Otherwise, we would have been killed. If you feel tired, pull over and take a nap.

We would be remiss if we did not state that the load was not properly secured to the flatbed. If it was the load would have been still strapped in.

Please comment.
