On our travels we request to visit our hosts’ workplaces in the early morning. Preferably between 02:00 and 05:00 in the morning. Why? That is when a lot of incident occur. Here is a recent incident that happened one early morning in February 2026.
Accident at work during the night, with a 44-year-old worker taken to hospital by ambulance for serious injuries to a hand, which was stuck in a press. It was about 03:30 yesterday when the (local) medical rescue intervened in the manufacturing plant, in via (location omitted), a company that produces aluminum caps and caps. The causes of the incident are being examined, from the first reconstruction the hand of the 44-year-old worker would have been stuck in an aluminum processing press. Emergency services were promptly alerted by the company, where emergency procedures were regularly triggered to try to limit the damage to the worker involved in the accident.
We pray that the worker’s hand will be able to be saved. We pray that the worker’s hand can make whole and that they have full function. We hope the aluminium company provides both occupational and mental health counseling.
Regarding the incident. We will reach out to our contacts to inquire and will update as further information is provided. We assume that injured worker placed their hand where they should not have been or the safety mechanisms failed or were overrided.
This is an observation or comment on our travels. When we are observing a workplace in the early morning. Watching routine task be repeated over and over again. Occasionally, we will observe a worker skipping a step. The issue is the worker can get away with skipping a step once or twice. But eventually they will get caught and injure or kill themselves or their coworkers. Though we do not know at this moment what happened in this incident. We are sadly aware of hundreds of incidents where workers skipped steps.
There are
several safety publications available on hand safety at this link.
